2020 Campaign Issues

Priorities + Issues

  • Montana is a wild place that affords endless recreational opportunities. Public lands and water policy need to be protected against privatization, and I will be an advocate for both water rights and the sustainable development of future water supplies.

After working with a number of farmers and ranchers who have transitioned from conventional to regenerative farming, I’ve witnessed the importance of soil health, soil sequestration, and how these changes increase the nutrient levels in our food. I support legislation that provides education and training opportunities, as well as financial and technical assistance to producers interested in making investments in their soil health. I also advocate for more economic infrastructure that would create opportunities for consumers to have more locally produced food options.

  • Over the last few years, Bozeman and Belgrade have collaborated to update the growth policy in Gallatin County. To implement a successful growth plan, each county needs its own model of infrastructure and zoning. I support economic opportunities where development is more than roads and bridges. I intend to protect working lands and support water policies that are needed to make our agricultural endeavors thrive and protect our watersheds.

  •  The consequence of rising productivity in the manufacturing sector of the economy is the inevitable cost increase of labor-intensive services. Buying local and creating accessibility of Montana-made products on a national level will create a diverse economy that cuts transportation and waste costs. In addition, I advocate for a future economy that funds public services and fosters a strong workforce that provides safe working conditions and access to affordable, reliable, healthcare and insurance.

  • I am a product of public education and believe Montanans should have a wide range of educational opportunities. I will advocate for policies that support increased state funding, expanded teacher pay, and a cap on tuition. If a four-year college program doesn’t suit a student, we need to provide alternatives such as two-year institutions, trade apprenticeships, and vocational schools. I will work hard to advocate for the legislature that opposes privatization of public education. Our children are the future, and it’s important to support the hard-working families who depend on high-quality public education.

  • Politics are new to me. I’m working from a platform of professional and life experiences to guide me through this delegative process. The legislative branch is the people’s branch. I’m continually meeting with legislators, senators, county commissioners, and the people within my district to learn how I can be the most proactive in creating change.

I’m not an expert on all subjects, and I understand that continuing to listen and learn from others is an important aspect of this position. My goal is to empower individuals to educate themselves and advocate for the policy changes they need. I am here to listen to you, and to help make those changes a reality.

My Story

I’m a fifth generation Montanan who grew up between the backroads and wheat fields of the Flathead Valley.

I attended Flathead High School ( I was a Vo-Ag student), and at 16 I spent a summer abroad as a student ambassador for the United States. I went on to graduate from Montana State University with honors in 2017. Traveling and living outside of Montana has given me a sense of heritage and pride for the grit it takes to live in this wild place.

Between college and working at a local design agency, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a broad range of businesses and organizations on a state and national level. The projects have ranged from helping farmers create a viable product from excess crops to short films that raise awareness on the importance of protecting wild spaces and the animals that inhabit them. All of these experiences have taught me the importance of collaboration and working with others to create effective solutions.

My values and personal obligation is not to succeed on my own, but to advocate and be a voice for the future generations and communities.

Mixtape

As a way to get to know me, I’ve put together a playlist of songs that have significance to me. From singing along to Alan Jackson with my dad on the back roads– to laying on the shag carpet of my grandparents' living room spinning Bob Seger on vinyl.

Enjoy.
